New Lake Mead Kayak Tour from Las Vegas gets you up close with Hoover Dam, a true engineering marvel. Your day starts with complimentary pickup from the the Las Vegas Strip, and continues south towards Boulder City. We will drive over the new Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge for the approximately 32 mile drive to the Kingman Wash Access Road, just over the Nevada/Arizona State Line.
The access road down to Lake Mead is approximately 3.4 miles and the surrounding mountains and desert plants make for a scenic drive down to the water.
The launch spot is surrounded by beautiful, multi colored mountains, and the cool, clear waters of Lake Mead are a sight to see. Lake Mead was the first National Recreation Area, dedicated in 1964, and is the largest man made lake in the Western Hemisphere (16th largest in the WORLD!).
A short paddle (just under a mile) takes you to the Nevada side of the Mighty Hoover Dam, where you can capture some 'postcard worthy' photos to share with your family and friends.
Back in the cove, or along the way on your paddle, you may choose to snorkel or fish with the provided gear. If you choose fishing, you do need to purchase a Fishing License, available online at http://www.ndow.org. Please read the instructions carefully, as you must purchase a "use" stamp to be able to fish on the Arizona side of Lake Mead.
A stop at Hoover Dam is included in this package, and you will have access to the Visitor's Center and the walkways on either side of the Dam. This package does NOT include a Powerplant or Dam Tour, but the Visitor's Center has audio and visual displays and exhibits that tell you the history and current dam conditions.
